Northumbria Schools County Lines Programme

Improve how you safeguard children in your school from criminal exploitation with a holistic training programme which provides bespoke information and learning for school staff, parents and their children.

Who is the course for?

The programme will include 3 different training sessions for staff, parents and children.

For Primary Schools
The learning programme will include:

  • A 2 hour training session for all school staff to learn about child exploitation which will be delivered live over Teams.
  • A 1 hour in-class session for children in Years 5 and 6, which will be delivered live over Teams, supported by the Class Teachers.
  • A 1 hour awareness session for parents and carers of children in Years 5 and 6, delivered live over Teams on an evening.

For Secondary Schools
The learning programme will include:

  • A 2 hour training session for all school staff to learn about child exploitation which will be delivered live over Teams.
  • A 1 hour in-school session for children in Years 7 to 10, which will be delivered in person.
  • A 1 1/2 hour awareness session for parents and carers of children aged 12+, delivered live over Teams on an evening.

School and Teaching staff training sessions

We will be welcoming all teaching and school staff to attend a two hour live webinar session where they will learn:

  • What county lines and criminal exploitation is
  • How children are being groomed in Northumbria
  • Where to signpost parents and carers for support
  • The importance of contextual safeguarding and a multi-agency approach

Parents and Carers awareness sessions

Parents and carers of children will be invited to attend a free live evening webinar where they will learn about what county lines is, what tactics exploiters are using to groom children, what to do if they have concerns and what services are available to them. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions to our subject matter experts. These sessions will be co-delivered by a parent with lived experience and a trainer from Ivison Trust.

We will be offering evening webinars for parents and carers at 7.00-8.30pm on the following dates throughout September:

Children and young people learning sessions

Secondary Schools
Children in Years 7-10 will attend an awareness session at their schools where they will learn what criminal exploitation is and how exploiters groom children.

Primary Schools
Under 12’s and children with special educational needs will be provided with live, remote awareness sessions during school time.
