Dates

This course is designed for anyone working with young people and families who would like to develop their knowledge about neurodivergence. The course focuses on supporting neurodivergent young people who are at risk of, or are being exploited.

Our expert trainer, Danielle Davey, has worked in education and the field of neurodivergence for over twenty years.

The training is interactive and practical. We will introduce best practice approaches and tools to support neurodivergent young people, which are then applied to real-life scenarios with the opportunity to practice through an interactive case study.

Learning objectives

By the end of the course, practitioners will be able to:

  • Recognise neurodiversity and the way neurodivergent young people negotiate the world.
  • Understand the experiences of children who are being exploited and are  neurodivergent.
  • Understand how to break down barriers and empower young people who are neurodivergent to make disclosures and receive support.
  • Understand trauma and presenting behaviours that can be masked due to the behaviours of a neurodivergent child.
  • Learn good practice approaches in working with all children and families who have been or are at risk of exploitation.

Course delivery

Our course will be accessed by learners online, streamed live via Teams, with the ability to watch and interact with our live trainers and other course participants. It will be a blended style of learning, with the same content and structure as our traditional face to face course. Our guest speakers will also be on hand in each module for live Q and As. We are dedicated to ensuring the experience for our learners continues to be of the highest standard.
