We are delighted that our Parent Liaison Officer Team have been shortlisted as Finalists the Safeguarding category for the Children and Young People Now Award 2024.
Through the provision of specialist, compassionate parent support, Parent Liaison Officers help families to protect their children from child exploitation (sexual and criminal) external to the home. Parent Liaison Officers provide emotional support, advocacy and practical advice to enable parents to protect their child, engage with police and family services, disrupt the exploitation and seek the justice they deserve through the criminal justice system.
Our Parent Liaison Officers are a fantastic team of professionals who work tirelessly to advocate for families, safeguard children and disrupt the exploitation.
One Parent Liaison Officer said:
“My work has given me a greater insight into the strength of families, the bonds they share and the determination to protect their children at all costs. It has allowed me to work alongside them in safeguarding their children, to understand the complexities and difficulties they face daily in doing so.My greatest learning opportunity has been when advocating for the parents, reframing stereotypes, pointing out victim-blaming statements and using correct narrative when speaking about the children. I hope that moving forward all of the professionals I come in contact with, and have had difficult conversations with, will move forward to support other families with a better understanding of exploitation and its wider impact.”
